Small inspiration and big MOOD…

If you were to ask any black women familiar with the arts created within the black community, what piece resonates with them the most; I’m know A LOT would say Annie Lee’s “Blue Monday”. 

Annie Lee's “Blue Monday” is one of her most legendary, iconic and RELATABLE pieces I’ve seen even as a young girl. From my interpretation; It depicts a tired black woman hunched over her bed on Monday morning getting ready for work, something we as black would (especially us that struggle with their mental health) can completely connect with.

Lately I’ve been thinking about this piece and how I now fully understand it as a newly 31 year old struggling with her own mental health but still pushing through day-by-day.

So I created “Her Normal Blues” with small inspiration from “Monday Blue”, in my style. Below I added the Procreate timelapse of the full process and please leave a comment!
